London 1885 and earlier, the terrestrial globe “MALBY’S / TERRESTRIAL CLOBE, / Compiled from the latest / & MOST AUTHENTIC SOURCES / including all the recent / Geographical Discoveries, / EDWARD STANFORD, / GEOGRAPHICAL PUBLISHER, &c. / 55. CHARING CROSS, LONDON. / JAN IV 1885”, the celestial globe probably made earlier “MALBY’S / CELESTIAL GLOBE, / Exhibiting the whole of the Stars / CONTAINED IN THE CATALOGUES OF / PIAZZI, BRADLEY, HEVELIUS, MAYER, I. A CAILLE & JOHNSON, / the Double Stars from Sir W. Herschell & Struve. / EDWARD STANFORD, / GEOGRAPHICAL PUBLISHER, &c. / 55. CHARING CROSS, LONDON.”. Both consisting of 12 lithographed and colored paper gores and two polar calottes on papermache/plaster sphere, full brass meridian circle and hour ring, in their original three-legged wood stand with horizon; noting small damages and repairs. Diameter 18 inch = c. 46 cm, height c. 68 cm. (WU).
